One of Canada’s leading institutions in research and innovation, the University of Toronto was founded in 1827.
This research-intensive university has created an environment with diverse values of freedom of words and expression leading her students to bring about new ideas and make discoveries through educative and social discourse.
The University of Toronto embraces creativity and diversity of all extents allowing her students and staff to flourish in their inventive abilities based on academic freedom. She has also become one of the world’s leading institution for research with her footprint on Canada and Globally.
The university is made up of three campuses; the Downtown Toronto campus (St. George) featuring the varsity’s high-performance facilities, the Mississauga campus with about 15 departments and the Scarborough campus with more hands-on research facilities and a vibrant environment.

University of Toronto Rankings

According to the Times higher education ranking for 2016, the University of Toronto Rankings climbed to the 22nd best university in the world, this isn’t so far off from the QS world university rankings 2016, which ranks the institution the 32nd best university worldwide.
Other rankings include the US News Best Global Universities, 2017 placing her at 21st while the Shanghai Jiao Tong, 2016 put her in 27th place.

Admission Requirements

The University of Toronto has over 700 undergraduate programs and over 200 graduate programs under various departments such as social sciences, mathematical and physical sciences, Engineering and many others.

 Undergraduate Admission:

For high school students in Ontario, you must possess an Ontario secondary school diploma (OSSD), with 6 grade 12 U/M. For students from other districts, you will need your high school diploma with the inclusion of English Language results.
For international students, transcripts from your secondary school including all courses offered and will be subject to review by the admissions board to check standards according to Canadian educational standards. All applications will be made online at the school’s admission portal.

Graduate Admission;

Applicant must possess an honors bachelor’s degree from a recognized university with a final-year average. All application must be made online at the school’s admission board.

University of Toronto Doctoral admission;

A relevant master’s degree with an average of B+ or evidence of equal research capabilities. Depending on an A- minimum qualification, some departments accept directly from an honors B.Sc. program into the doctoral program.
Please note in all areas of admission, many departments increase their requirements depending on the number of excellent candidates requesting for admission in a particular year.

LANGUAGE REQUIREMENTS

The English language is used for study instruction at the University of Toronto, therefore every candidate for admission should have English as their first language or evidence of adequate English proficiency.
For Canadians, you will be expected to provide an ENG4U/EAE4U. Some students will be exempted from this process. If exempted, your grade 12 English course will be acceptable.
For international students and Canadian students who are not exempted, these are acceptable evidence of English Proficiency.
